S10 E15: 'How to live your values every day'
with David Hutchinson
Monday 4 August 2025

About this episode
Can you name the values of the organisation you work for, or your last employer?
I’m fairly convinced that not everyone can. Most of the time, an organisation’s stated values are posted on company websites and marketing material; it’s likely we come across them when we’re interviewing to join because we want to know what kind of organisation we’d be working for and what they stand for. But once we’re in the door, those stated values just sort of melt away and aren’t really referred to.
In this episode I explore how an organisation can genuinely bring its values to life every day and to discuss this, I’m joined by David Hutchinson, CEO of PeopleCheck. PeopleCheck are a global leader in background screening checks and they are known for championing transparency, compliance, and kindness in business.
We dig into what company values really mean, how to build teams that live those values, and how to respond when your organisation’s values get ignored or transgressed in some way. I find out from David how PeopleCheck’s ethos shapes every interaction and why actions speak louder than words—especially in critical moments.
